What should I do with extra upgrade items? - Guild Wars Forums

Hello,
I got Guild Wars: Nightfall about a month ago and have been playing it casualy. I currently have a level 14 War and I'v been running into a proublem, What do I do with the extra upgrade items I get? I get random inscriptions and upgrade parts off of salvaged drops, most of which are useless to me as a War (like spear upgrades). Do I just sell the useless inscriptions and parts to a merchant or should I try to spam the trade channel to sell them?

Also, how do I go about finding inscriptions and upgrade items that I want? Is there a upgrade item trader like there is a rune trader or do I have to wait untill I see something in the trade channel that I want and can afford?

The other two MMOs that I have played are Final Fantasy and WoW and they both had a easy to use auction house system so I did not have to wait for hours on end for something good to show up in the trade channel.

sell the one that people might want (sundering, vamp, fortitude) just merch the non-prefect ones or unwanteds.

You don't have to salvage everything. If it's useless to you just sell the whole item to merchants. Save some for your other characters if you think it'll fit them. Ventari's Corner>Price Check lists value of things.

There's no upgrade or inscription merchant. Just continue going through campaign and you might get what you want. Use trade channel or list a WTB in party search and someone may have it.

Oh ya...I completly forgot that you could upgrade your hero's gear (just weapon and shield iirc). Thanks for reminding me.

You will find the ones that are worthwhile to salvage. 15^50 damage with no modifiers are in some demand at times, and a few insignias. Most are pretty much worthless. One that can be quite useful is the "highly salvageable" inscription that can be applied to jeweled weapons like ruby daggers that you can salvage after application to improve your chances of getting a ruby.

Actually, you can upgrade nearly everything with hero's. This means you can:

- Add runes to their armor
- Add insignia's to their armor
- Change what weapons, shield's, focii, etc they are equipped with
- Add whatever mods you want to the weapons, shields, focii, etc they are equipped with
- Customize the weapons they use, and they do get the +20% damage bonus.
- Salvage all mods from a hero's armor without destroying the hero's armor.

What I know you can't do is:

- Dye hero's armor.
- Dye items the hero has equipped, to dye them you need to drop them to your inventory to dye.
